How to view the flow of treatment during myofascial release
This video is from our subscription instruction service at mfrtv.com. I describe how to apply the in-depth instruction we provide in our mentoring classes, as an art. There is a flow to the treatment that I illustrate with a visualization of water flowing down a mountain. I have found the image of flowing water navigating its way down a mountain helpful in setting the right state of mind during myofascial release treatment

Light pressure just works faster than when I used to press hard and only got temporary results. Sciatic pain, and I worked hard to find the sources on both sides...it's gone. Permanently. Great explanation here...crystalized water being moved so efficiently...so glad I learned how to do this overall. A life saver at age 64...rode 5 miles this evening on my bicycle and I still feel great afterwards. Life enhancer...think I'll live past 100 easily with this wonderful alternative to pills and pain...even my big toe got what felt like a cramp post ride, ,so I did it again with soft pressure, feels fine now...total time, about 10 minutes of finding the related areas and they just literally melted back to normal configuration. Amazed again..

This is real. I went in for therapy and did not know what to expect I thought I was going to just get a massage, but the 1st time I wanted to laugh and restrained myself from doing so becasue I thought she woudl think I was nuts. The 2nd time I cried and then laughed out loud. She then told me that it can bring out tears crying or laughter. It was the most awesome experience I have ever had. I did about 10 sessions. Every time I have felt better than ever after I left.

Hello Richard! I came on to RUclips for something else and saw this new post of yours. Thank you for this message. Seems like it was meant for me to hear. My story has much to do with what you have shared. My first MFR class was in 2010. Haven’t looked back since then in my MT career here in northeast PA. Since March of 2016 I have been dealing with a serious health issue. August 2016 I had my spleen removed. It was just about 9#. My “label” was peripheral Tcell lymphoma. An extremely rare type. I took 5 rounds of chemo and had a stem cell transplant in February 2017 at University of Penn in Philadelphia. I am one of about 5 people to walk through their door with this flavor. Now one piece of advice I have not taken from John is to be treated. I was in good health, no body pain, not anything of extreme trauma I had experienced “in my conscience mind”. While in hospital post transplant, in isolation, I had lots of time to reflect. One day out of the blue I recalled my treatment at TOR during my SES in November 2011. I was vocalizing “pull it out, take it out” using a hand motion over my spleen area. Labeling it, at that time, as a past life experience. What my reflection in 2017 was is that energetically my body was telling me in 2011 of my upcoming health issue. I began to cry and let it out. Forgiveness then began that if I had sought more treatment for myself perhaps this issue could have been resolved. Maybe it was meant to be part of my journey. Still working that one out. My point is that it was such a pivotal moment for me (2017 reflection) and has completely deepened my gratitude, understanding and awareness of MFR. My new “birthday” is February 1st. Looking forward to getting off the remaining meds that are required for one year post transplant. One of them requires me to stay out of the sun. Also, I am looking forward to many treatments for me, for my body, mind and spirit. I asked my care team at UofP if I could be released for MFR. They have released me for massage, acupuncture and more stretching like yoga. One by product of transplant is graft vs host that can effect the deeper layers of the skin and they have asked me not to participate in MFR. I am craving MFR for my healing process like you can’t believe. Since this issue is so rare I have committed to follow my team until February. After that I am jumping in the ocean. I am only about 2-2.5 hours from Malvern. Love your authenticity Richard. I have connected with you since the beginning. Thank you. Final note: I had reiki while receiving my stem cells. It was a beautiful experience. Also have read some studies that implicate how emotions effect CD4 counts. I really feel that MFR will bring those counts up. Merry Christmas to you and your family. God Bless. Denise

This is quite true. My former sensei taught techniques such as this for his philosophy was that one must learn to heal before learning to destroy. I used this principle on a child who was born with severe asthma. I guess I was supposed to be there because I was the only one allowed in the neo natal unit at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley California. The boy is my grandson Nassir. Well I could see his difficulty breathing and I heard his wheezing. So after a concentrated rapid meditation I held out my pinky finger and his little hand grabbed it. The sensation felt like a mild tickling and after about 2 minutes I gently removed his hand from my finger. I told him that he'd be ok and that kid smiled and he was no more than 4 hours old! I left. The report that I got back was that his breathing smoothed out and that the wheezing left. These days he is a rambunctious 11 year old that is filled with energy. He has no signs of anything asthma related. Such is the power of Chi. Believe it or not. But know this...there are many dedicated martial artists out there that know exactly what I mean and they know firsthand that I speak truth. When the mind and the soul are in perfect harmony there is an energy that develops that can heal as well as be a destructive source. In Honor of my sensei. May he rest in blessed peace.

This form of myofascial release is much more gentle. We have discovered you can't force this tissue. The pressure can be firm, but it doesn't attempt to push through the hard end feel, only wait for it to release.

I'm studying to become an osteopath, yesterday was last day of school of my first year. Our teacher did a demonstration of a myofascial release using only the patient's legs. It was amazing, none of us could believe it, it really showed he was approaching the patient's whole body while he was moving with one of her legs, he was like dancing. All this is changing my life in such a good way.
